This week I went to a restaurant called The Other Dawg, and if I am going to be honest it was my first underwhelming experience. They are located at 4408 N Prospect right next to Subway. They claim to serve hot dogs, tamales, and nachos. I tried what they called a “chili dog”. I think the picture will serve as enough evidence why I was so disappointed.
In my opinion, a company with only a few items on the menu should do an exceptional job at making those few items. This was not the case. After my “chili dog”, I was still hungry so I decided to order an apple cinnamon raisin tamale. Once again, a picture is worth a thousand words.
I cannot determine what this company’s distinctive competence is yet, but I can say with confidence it is not their food. I was hoping to get a meal that wasn’t prepackaged and microwaved. I have done a better job preparing hot dogs over hot coals. This was not the best five dollars I have ever spent, but at least it only was five dollars!
That hot dog looks disgusting. I do agree with you when talking about small menus. Five guys is a PERFECT example of limited selection, but high quality awesome food.
ReplyDeleteOh wow,I don't know what they think a chili dog is but that just looked all wrong! I agree with you that with very few menu items they should do a good job. Have you been to the Burger Barge? I can't remember if they have hot dogs, but they do have good hamburgers.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had been bold enough to walk out when they gave that to me. I love Five Guys! I never think to go there when I crave a burger though.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Burger Barge also! I actually used the barge part of it once and floated up on boat. It was awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat place looks like the Health Departments worse nightmare. If you want a good chili dog or any kind of hot dog go to Mr. G's here on Main when they open back up!
ReplyDeleteIt may disappoint you to learn the owner worked five or six years on that chili recipe! Learn more here: http://www.pjstar.com/business/x1923755298/Keeping-it-simple-at-The-Other-Dawg
