That's all for La Gondola. Next week I should be going to an Indian place I see on my way to work, so look out for that!
My mission is to try a new restaurant every week in hopes of finding those local hidden gems.

La Gondola
Tonight I went to a restaurant I see on my way to work everyday. So I finally stopped in! It is call La Gondola. I went at 8:30 at night and the restaurant closes at 9:00, so I got my food to go, but I did get photos of the dining area for you all! If you get bored of Avanti's, then go to La Gondola it is on War Memorial Drive between Knoxville and Prospect.
I ordered a child's tortellini, a side of meat balls, and side of garlic bread. Even though I got a child's portion, I was stuffed! The food was delicious! I am an Italian at heart. Let me start with how good the sauce was that the tortellini came in. It had some nice chunks of meet in it. Then I added in my side of meat balls, which turned out to practically be a full meal in itself. However, the bread was the reason I will go back! It was soft like Avanti's, but it was sweeter. So so so so so delicious. They also had some very fair lunch specials that I would like to check out.

La Gondola has amazing food! When I lived in Morton, my family would regularly get their sandwiches and sometimes pasta. It has been a while since I have had their food, so I might have to stop by next go I am in the area.
ReplyDeleteYeah I am a big fan! In my opinion, the only thing Avantis has on La Gondola is their location to campus and those hot wings. :) I have a weakness for those wings!
ReplyDeleteSo this is very similar to Avantis?! I will have to try it out! Sounds good! I love tortellini!! Is it near the Crusen's on War?!
ReplyDeleteSo much better than Avantis...the bread makes the gondolas to die for, but I guess if you insist on wings
ReplyDeleteThe bread is awesome. My favorite it thing is when they make the torpedoes on bread that is still warm. Fabulous! (The La Gondola people use to be a part of the Avantis organization until they got mad and started their own chain. Now, ironically, someone got mad at them and started the Michael's restaurants in Washington, Germantown and East Peoria. Lesson here? Think seriously before working with family and close friends!)
ReplyDeleteYeah Kelsey, about one block down.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely some hard lessons to be learned. That's for sure! I have heard of the Michael's one also but never been there. I heard their sandwiches are out of this world.
